Concession spaces

Having worked my entire professional career in the charity sector, I am passionate about providing accessible therapy wherever possible. Concession spaces are limited to allow me to offer accessible therapy whilst ensuring the sustainability of my therapeutic practice alongside appropriately valuing my time and covering my overheads. See below for a breakdown of whether you'd be eligible for a concession space.

The concession scale I use is based on Alexis Cunningfolk's 'Green Bottle' sliding scale. It is influenced by principles of economic justice where clients pay a fee proportionate to what they have available. The scale takes into account income and financial outgoings. Please read through the ‘Sliding Scale’ breakdown below and decide a band that best matches your circumstances- you do not need to agree with every statement.

Ultimately, the sliding scale thrives on trust. I work on a basis of trust and do not ask for proof of income. However, as this sliding scale is offered in a spirit of generosity, my request is that people use it honestly. There is an allocated number of slots available for each band. Please consider it fairly for you, for others and for me.

Here is the breakdown on which I base each level of the concession scale.

Top of the Scale - Full price £60:

  • I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic needs*

  • I own my home or property OR I rent a higher-end property

  • I own or lease a car

  • I am employed and/or have a regular income or do not need to work

  • I have ample financial savings

  • I have ample disposable income e.g. in a month can afford to regularly eat out, buy coffee, or could regularly pay for events and activities such as exercise classes, the cinema, or buy new clothes/books.

Middle of the Scale - reduced fee:

  • I am able to meet my basic needs the majority of the time

  • I am employed and/or have a regular income

  • I have access to some financial savings

  • I have some moderate expendable income e.g. in a month can afford to sometimes eat out, buy coffee, or could sometimes pay for events and activities such as exercise classes, the cinema, or buy new clothes/books.

Bottom of the Scale - reduced fee:

  • I may stress about meeting basic needs & am still able to achieve them regularly

  • I have a regular income (such as a wage or benefits)

  • don't have any savings

  • I have no or very limited expendable income e.g. in a month could rarely afford to eat out, go for coffee or attend events and activities.

  • I rarely buy new items because I am unable to afford them

  • I cannot afford a holiday or have the ability to take time off without financial burden.
